Despite the constant bombardment of bad news about the state of the world, I was actually very zen through the last year and a half. Until today. Today someone I care about very much posted his family's story on Facebook and I got very, very angry. If y'all know me, you know that once I perceive an injustice I usually have to do something about it. So I'm posting Riz's story here, to help him get the word out about Atlas Air and what they did to his family. These are Riz's words, unedited. I must warn you, some of what you are about to read is very disturbing and somewhat graphic.

As you know, it's been a while since I blogged so I thought I would give you all an update on the child sex abuse lawsuits against St. Francis Prep. The pandemic brought the courts to a standstill in NY for over a year, but they opened up again for jury trials this week. The lawsuits against SFP will proceed now at a quicker pace.
This article was published on qns.com yesterday: https://qns.com/2021/04/st-francis-prep-leads-queens-brooklyn-in-child-sex-abuse-lawsuits-report/ It says that SFP has more Child Victims Act child sex abuse cases filed against it than any other Catholic school in the Brooklyn Diocese. Is anyone surprised?
According to the article, SFP has 21 cases filed against it as of December, 2020. Just an FYI, the statutory filing window for the Child Victims Act does not close until August 14, 2021. So if you are a victim and would like to make a claim, there is still plenty of time for you to do so. The attorney handling most of the cases against SFP is David Oddo of Oddo & Babat. Here is a link to the firm's website: https://www.oddobabat.com/ . David is a former prosecutor and Past President of the NYS Trial Lawyers Association. You can call for a free consultation at 646-828-1980.
I want to close by saying something about my book, Controlled Burn. The book is a blueprint for suing St. Francis Prep for child sex abuse. It connects a lot of dots, names a lot of people, and will generally help many plaintiffs with the criteria they need to meet to have a successful lawsuit against the school.
I'll be back with another blog when there's more to report. Until then, much love and good luck to you all.
